Workplace Accommodations

A workplace accommodation is a modification or adjustment to the job, work environment, or hiring process that allows an individual with a disability to have an equal access to their job, to perform their job tasks, and enjoy the benefits and privileges of employment.
Examples of workplace accommodations include:
- Alternative formats (i.e. screen-reading software)
- Additional equipment
- Accessible parking
- Additional breaks
- Ergonomic equipment
- Executive functioning tools
- Service animal
Requesting an Accommodation
The Disability Equity Office coordinates disability-related accommodations for Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Flint faculty and staff, including:
- Student employees
- Michigan Medicine faculty
- Applicants for employment
Employees and units seeking assistance are encouraged to submit their requests using the ADA Initial Contact Form through Accommodate.
